ANNUAL REPORT 2021
CONNECTION | STORYTELLING & KNOWLEDGE SHARING
Shifting the narrative.
Word of mouth is core to building a Movement. The SGM website increased traffic by 22% in the past year. Our social media had an average audience growth rate of 56%.

The more stories we tell and the more community voices we highlight, the faster the Movement spreads worldwide. Stories are our outlet for awareness-based systems change in addition to positioning social gastronomy on the international stage.
Through research, listening, storytelling, and knowledge sharing, we can demonstrate what is possible and inspire future generations of social gastronauts.*

It is important to acknowledge that the way we communicate is purposefully light. While the issues our network focuses on are anything but easy, we aim to spotlight the humanity and hope that is integral to the work.
Sure, stories can be found within our reports, blog articles, podcast, and social media channels, but they also live in every moment that we gather with care and vulnerability.

From spotlighting women-led innovation to unpacking food apartheid, our platforms are channels for sharing our community's input, insight, and inspiration. The hope is that these stories plant seeds in the lives and hearts of readers, listeners, viewers, and participants.
