Finding a Sense of Belonging

CONNECTION

In a hyper-globalized world, establishing authentic connections and understanding local nuances allows for deeper innovation and models for social change.

We unite food systems stakeholders in a borderless space by harnessing the power of technology and convening as a global community. SGM weaves a network of practitioners by bringing visibility to grassroots organizations and identifying threads and themes that allow for collaboration to emerge.

COLLABORATION

Working together toward a shared goal

SGM fosters the exchange of best practices, sustainable organizational models, dialogue, and shared learnings to accelerate local impact. Digital tools and convening practices create the space for members to collaborate on tackling urgent global challenges within the context of their local communities.

This year we have faced many roadblocks to collaboration including language barriers, video call fatigue, learning curves, and competition for funding. For us, as a global movement, we prefer to see these as opportunities to rethink how we can work together toward shared goals.

We will continue to refine our tools and offerings with the input of the community.

Impact & Learnings

Partnerships

Sharing responsibility in local food systems transformation.

SGM focuses on cross-sector collaboration, by creating fertile ground for members to scale their impact through the establishment of meaningful partnerships and creating systems of accountability in the effort to transform food systems.

SGM's long-term goal is to be mindful that Movements, by their very nature, are constantly evolving.

With that, SGM aims to tap further into its collective capacity, to co-create various innovative models and programs that support local communities to build resiliency and agency over their food systems, leaving no one behind.

It is SGM’s aim that these tested models be scaled exponentially and globally to re-invent and reinforce the fragile food systems that exist.

Navigate Impact & Learnings

The Collective Impact Program

One of our most celebrated achievements of 2021 is the successful co-creation and launch of the SGM Collective Impact Program (CIP) in partnership with dedicated, expert members of the community.

The Collective Impact Program builds the capacity, diversity, inclusion, and equity to facilitate cross-sector collaboration and mobilize multi-stakeholder action teams in local food systems.
